The parting of ways

Since the news of my departure was finally announced, I've been reading the message-board and Texture list with more diligence than usual. It's nice to be the centre of attention although I wish it were under different circumstances.
It's been a while since I was given the news and am sorry you have had to wait this long to find out. I wanted an official announcement to be made at the time but was told it wasn't possible due to "contractural issues." Hence, I was prevented from "spilling the beans," also.
Over the last week I have been inundated with emails from well-wishers and would like to use this forum to express my thanks to those people and to you who have left messages on the web-site and on Texture.
The reason for the parting of ways has been put down to the band moving on musically, while I hadn't, and that the chemistry was no longer there between us.
My response is that chemistry is hard to create when you're not allowed in the chemistry lab.
9 years is a long time. In band terms, it's an aeon.
There were peaks and troughs, but the highs easily outweighed the lows. The most enjoyable times for me were playing in front of a great bunch of fans and it is this aspect that I will miss more than any.
However, it is time to turn to other things. I'll still peruse the CW site and Texture list, and will make contributions when I feel it is necessary. Thanks.
